StreetMod Designs is a premium automotive restoration and customization shop located in north Fort Worth that specializes in providing customers a unique experience and with high-quality, detailed workmanship since 2020. StreetMod Designs specializes in restoration and customization from sheet metal fabrication to mechanical repairs on full build projects to basic services on classics vehicles.
We are growing and looking for a Hot Rod Mechanic who has the same passion about cars and customer service as we do. ***This is not a beginner position. At this time, we do not have an open position for beginners.***
Position Summary
The Hot Rod Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing and performing major and minor repairs, maintenance, and customizations to classic cars that range from a factory to a 100% custom set-up.
Position Responsibilities
The Hot Rod Mechanic will have the following responsibilities, but is not limited to:
- Install and modify a range of parts including Vintage Air systems, American Autowire harnesses, EFI systems, LS/Coyote Swaps, modern/digital gauges, air ride suspension, lifts, disc brake conversion kits, modern radios, etc.
- Efficiently and accurately perform vehicle upgrades and/or maintenance
- Troubleshoot and repair major and minor mechanical and electrical repairs
- Communicate with management to obtain needed parts, advise of additional problems, and obtain approval on repairs
- Posses the mechanical knowledge and understanding the components of a vehicle
- Document work performed by typing notes and taking pictures
- Ability to embrace new methods with little to no hesitation
- Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines
- Be willing to be universal in mechanical and fabrication when needed
Position Requirements
The Hot Rod Mechanic must be someone who is dependable, adaptable, flexible, detail oriented, achievement oriented, have a high stress tolerance, be able to follow directions, and be able to use their knowledge to make suggestions/brainstorm. The Hot Rod Mechanic should have a team player and self-starter mentality alongside the love for classic and custom cars. Furthermore, this job is for someone who has customer service top-of-mind at all times as well as being able to interact with customers and teammates in a professional manner.
All applicants must pass pre-employment testing which includes a background check and driving record check.
- Required 6+ years of professional mechanical experience in major and minor repair
- Must be currently employed or previously been employed at an automotive shop for 6+ years
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License
- Proficient in geometry and reading measurements
- Basic computer typing and navigation skills
- Must be able to provide own tools and toolbox (Basics a must!)
- Able to start within 2 weeks of hire
Preferred Skills and Expertise
These are only preferred skills and experience in addition to the requirements. Not having these will not disqualify someone from the position.
- 8+ years preferred professional mechanical experience in major and minor repairs
- Classic car experience a plus
- Welding and fabrication experience a plus
- AllData and Shop-Ware experience a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to handle physical requirements majority of the workday, including, but not limited to, repeated bending, stretching, twisting, and lifting up to 75 pounds
- Work in tight spaces as dictated by the vehicle's needed repair
- Be able to work with tools on vehicles lifted above their head
- Have the needed dexterity in order to efficiently use hand-tools, power tools, and equipment
